How to spend each day
Three nights and two full sightseeing days: arrive and settle in the first evening, explore for two full days, then rest on the third night before departure.
Avoid crossing all of Ibaraki in a single day. Group nearby sights, restaurants, and hot springs together for a more relaxed trip.
4:00 p.m. check-in, local shopping, and a quiet evening by the forest
Pick up breakfast items, prepared foods, and drinks at a nearby farm shop or supermarket. After a long drive, keep the evening local.
8:30 a.m. Oarai Aquarium, seafood, and a hot spring
Visit the aquarium in the morning and choose a recommended seafood restaurant for lunch. In the afternoon, choose the coast, a shrine, or Shiosai-no-Yu based on the weather. The aquarium and hot spring also work well on a rainy day.
Return to the hotel and avoid long-distance driving at night
Do not drive after drinking or when tired after a hot spring. Choose dinner from a recommended restaurant or pick up food at a supermarket.
9:00 a.m. Lake Hinuma, followed by either Mito or Kasama
Take an easy lakeside walk in the morning. In the afternoon, choose either Mito's gardens and city culture or Kasama's pottery, cafes, and chestnut desserts. Do not try to fit in both.
Return to the hotel and check out the following morning
Departure day is not counted as one of the two full sightseeing days. Add breakfast or a short walk only if your return schedule allows.
